History:
Peshawar Zalmi represents the Historic City Peshawar the Capital of province KPK. The side was bought by Javed Afridi CEO of the Haier Group for $16 million (USD).
The first Edition was good for them as expected. Losing only 2 out of 8 games in group stages and topped the group but just couldn’t match their performance in the knockouts.
Changes to Previous Season:
They have named Mohammad Akram as their Head Coach, Andy Flower will be the Batting Coach with South African Grant Luden as the Fielding Coach.
Newly appointed Captain Darren Sammy would bring new energy in the Peshawar Zalmi team as they need a combined performances from everyone in the squad if they want to come close to winning the title. They will lose their key batsman Eoin Morgan who is just available for a couple of games due to International duties. Marlon Samuels replaces the injured English opener Alex Hales, Shakib al Hasan is also not available and maybe replaced by Tillakaratne Dilshan a handy All-Rounder, West Indies keeper Andre Fletcher gets a chance in place of Mohammad Shahzad. They also got Sohaib Maqsood from Lahore Qalandars and Iftikhar Ahmad from Karachi Kings to support their Power House.
Afridi might be looking to recapture his form early in the tournament as the team looks bit down in the bowling department but if Junaid and Wahab performs upto their potential then it would be disastrous for any opponent team. Other Pakistan’s internationals include Kamral Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez and Haris Sohail are also part of the side who is a quality batsman without a doubt. Similarly, Hassan Ali can be a very handy bowler in the middle-overs and Asghar who was among the wickets last season.
