History:

Lahore Qalandars represents the heart of Pakistan, Lahore also the Capital of Province Punjab. The Lahore Qalandars franchise was bought by Rana Fawad owner of Qatar Lubricants Ltd. for a massive amount of $24 million (USD).

The first Edition doesn’t go well with them. Losing 6 out of 8 games in group stages and last in the group but they organized their Management Team well after that and also organized Pakistan’s biggest talent hunt program they put a great work in that hopefully it would produce results in the coming years both for Lahore Qalandars and Pakistan.

Changes to Previous Season:

Appointed South African Paddy Upton as Coach he is a reputed coach with plenty of experience. Shawn Bradstreet appointed as Fielding Coach, Aqib Javed as the Director, Mudassar Nazar as Advisor and Icon of the Franchise and Ijaz Ahmad as the Batting Coach.

Qalandars gave away Chris Gayle to Karachi Kings in a lucrative deal gaining Sohail Tanvir. Sohaib Maqsood was traded with Aamer Yamin of Peshawar Zalmi. Grant Elliot also grabbed by Qalandars from Quetta Gladiators. Bad news for the fans as the West Indies All-Rounder Dwayne Bravo won’t be available after the injury during the Big Bash League replaced by England’s opening Batsman Jason Roy. Shaun Tait is also injured that gives the Aussie spinner Chris Green his first call into a Domestic T20 tournament outside Australia. Anton Devcich has also been replaced by fellow Kiwi All-Rounder James Franklin.

The most required change was the change of captaincy from Azhar Ali to Brendon McCullum. Azhar will remain a part of the Lahore side.

In the presence of Sunil Narine the spin department is quite strong as compared to others with some help from the other young spinners like Yasir Shah, Chris Green, Zafar Gohar, Usman Qadir. But it’s the Fast bowling department which is not much experienced. The right combination is the keys to winning a T20 title.

Pakistani internationals include the leading run scorer of last Edition Umar Akmal recently not in the great form, Mohammad Rizwan, Azhar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti and Sohail Tanvir the only experienced fast bowler in the squad.

Emerging Star Saif Badar is the find for Qalandars as he technically sound Batsman with his technique more strong than the most of the squad Players.
